Give Away...

This Sunday would have been Adam's 35th birthday. In honor of his birthday, I'll be giving away a $35 gift certificate to one of you. What gift certificate? Your choice from Amazon.com/uk, Yarn.com, or the .com of your choosing, so long as it's one I'm not afraid to give my credit card details to!

Adam was such an incredibly generous person, especially with me. Literally almost every day he came home with some little thing he saw somewhere for me. It was incredibly sweet and thoughtful and generous of him, and I always appreciated it.

So, in honor of Adam, leave a comment between now and Sunday. Any comments left in the last couple of posts will automatically be entered. I'll choose someone at random on Sunday evening, and that person will get the gift certificate of their choosing.

I will also be making a donation to the children's charity which has a fund in Adam's name in honor of his birthday.

So, if you lurk, now is a good time to say "hi"- and to my friends who I know read this but never comment, wouldn't it be a kicker if one of you won?!

Good luck.

(((((hugs)))))

Can I ask which charity has the fund in his name? Everything you have said about him and your strength dealing with his loss has really touched me, and I'd like to give him a birthday gift, too.

What a really beautiful idea. And I'm not saying that just because I'd like a yarntificate. But what a great way to celebrate his life and generosity. I too would be interested in knowing the charity so that I may donate also...'karma' (kitties) and all...

I should have delurked before, sorry! I started reading your blog just a few weeks ago. When I first found it, I went back and read your entire archives. (I normally don't do that.) Something about you, your story, the way you write...It really just pulled me in. I was having a pretty bad day when I found you. I was hating my life and my husband. And your blog reminded me of the many things I take for granted. I had more to say but I'm getting a little teary and just don't want to go there for either of us :) Thank you for sharing your story.

I know it sounds strange, (and I hope I don't scare you) but for some reason I do actually think of you often (even though I don't know you) and your story as my heart breaks for your loss and your story really touched me. Happy Birthday Adam. I'm sure many people (who know him and who don't) keep him in their thoughts and send well wishes your way.

What a lovely idea!
You are very talented at keeping Adam alive in people's thoughts and hearts - even those of us who never met him, but just know him through your blog.

I hope Sunday isn't too hard for you.

Smooches, my friend!

Happy Birthday, Adam. I think this is a lovely idea. I will be 35 soon myself - I had no idea that he and I were of age. I'd like the info on the charity, too - please.

It is a lovely idea, and I would also like the charity fund information.

I don't know you, either, but I have learned that you're a very friendly person, and I like coming here.

Your strength is inspiring.

You guys are amazing. Thank you. No, it doesn't freak me out that you'd think of me, I'm really touched.

I've e-mailed some of you with the charity info, but I don't have addresses for many of you, so feel free to e-mail me, and thank you again.

I just came over from ravelry as you were listed as a 'neighbour' (similar projects listed?)and I'm having a browse.

Having read what you've been through I want to send you hugs and if I should win the draw I would like the money to go to the charity with the fund set up in Adam's name. Happy Birthday for Sunday, Adam.

My late husband would have been 30 last month. The big birthdays are still hard even this many years out.

Giving a gift cert. and donation is such a thoughtful and respectful and just damn beautiful way of celebrating. You inspire me.

I just found your blog today after you signed up for the entrelac group on Ravelry. I don't even know what to say. It sounds stupid to anyone who doesn't knit, but knitting does help, doesn't it.
I'm looking forward to "seeing" more of you on the entrelac group.

Hi Annie,

I found your blog via Ravelry and when I read the first post, I felt compelled to go back through all your archives.

You say that you were lucky to have Adam, but he was also very lucky to have you. You've reacted with such grace when many people would allow themselves to turn bitter.

I very much hope that you will have a happy and peaceful weekend.

I too have found your blog through Ravelry. I've visited it yesterday (and had to go back to read previous posts after reading this one), but I didn't leave a comment because I just couldn't find the words. Though I can't find them right now either, I thought I'd at least let you know I've been touched by what you had - and still have - to go through, and am thinking of you.
